Osun State University has set up a radio station transmitting on 106.9 frequency modulation.
The Uniosun 106.9 FM is the 13th radio station broadcasting in the state.
The radio station was domiciled at the Department of Linguistics and Communication Studies in the College of Humanities and Culture, Ikire Campus.
The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Labode Popoola yesterday said the initiative was aimed at synergizing communication, and development in the areas of teaching to build confidence, knowledge advancement, and social services in the students of the University.
Popoola said “Despite dwindling resources and the challenges of COVID-19, we believe that life must move on Perhaps, with renewed hope and greater valor. Therefore, in line with the social responsibility of the media, the catchment of our University can rely on UNIOSUN FM as a tool to access vital information about the activities of the University and well-thought-out opinions about practices and actions that are capable of engendering sustainable development in Osun State and our neighbouring towns and cities.”
“It is necessary to note that the radio station is conceived to be student-friendly, volunteer-driven, inclusive, and interactive by providing opportunities for members of the university community to share ideas, innovations, and expertise relating to the University and the greater good of humanity,” the VC said.
