Osun PDP accuses APC of cloning PVC to rig rerun election

* PDP’s claims untrue, says APC

The Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State, Mr Soji Adagunodo, has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of cloning permanent voter cards to rig Thursday’s gubernatorial rerun election in the state.

The PDP chairman asked the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to declare the total number of the Permanent Voters’ Cards collected in all the seven units where the supplementary election will be held.

Adagunodo while speaking with journalists in Osogbo on Tuesday alleged that the cloning of the PVCs was taking place at the Government House Annex, Oke-Fia in Osogbo.

He also accused the APC of inducing the voters in the affected polling centers with huge money to buy their votes.

“APC has gone to seven polling units on a massive vote buying, offering money ranging from N50,000 to N100,000 per card.

“Also, INEC is now selling uncollected PVCs to APC at the rate of N3,000 per one which will give them room to rig the election,” he added.

Adagunodo also lamented the attack on some of his members, including a party chieftain, Fatai Oyedele, also known as Diekola and his aides on Monday by hoodlums suspected to be working for APC.

“Just to ensure that we don’t win the supplementary election slated for Thursday, APC government has connived with the security operatives to launch attack on some of the party’s members,” Adagunodo said.

“They attacked Alhaji Asafa, Idowu Agbaje and some other prominent members of the party in their homes, at the instance of security operatives this morning just to intimidate our supporters but nothing will stop our victory on Thursday,” Adagunodo said.

In his reaction, APC’s Director of Information and Strategy, Kunle Oyatomi, said the party was never known for engaging in undemocratic acts.

He denied all the allegations and also accused PDP of perpetrating vote-buying.

Oyatomi said if APC had been cloning PVCs and buying votes, it would have won the election on Saturday.

Oyatomi said the PDP had gone to town buying votes for N50,000 adding that the bargain was that, they pay voters N20,000 on the spot and promised to settle the balance of N30,000 after voting.

He added that the party would discover that whatever amount of votes they were buying would not reflect in the rerun poll on Thursday.
