Osun Group marks Day of Girl Child with dialogue

The Civil Society Action Coalition on Education for All (CSACEFA) on Monday held a Media and Stakeholders Dialogue to commemorate this year’s edition of the International Day of The Girl Child. 

The event which was held in Osogbo, the state capital was attended by top personalities in the state including government officials, members of Civil Society Organizations and media men as well as school girls among others. 

The theme of the 2021 International Day of The Girl was “Digital Generation, Our Generation.”

The CSACEFA National Moderator, Mr Babatunde Omole said the annual commemoration of International Day of The Girl on October 11 every year was dedicated to the growth of girls around the world, focusing on their rights, safety and education.

Omole urged the Osun State Government to improve on educational facilities in schools across the state by ensuring conducive learning atmosphere and to also motivate teachers to perform their duties efficiently and cheerfully. 

He lauded the state governor Adegboyega Oyetola and the Commissioner for Education, Folorunsho Adedoyin and other officials of the Ministry for their efforts to reposition the education sector in the state.

A Development Consultant, Mr Dare Adeoye in his lecture highlighted the challenges facing young girls and urged all stakeholders to work together to address the challenges. 

Omole emphasized the need for Osun State Government to put necessary mechanisms in place so as to enable the state to access 2019 UBEC fund for Education development in the state

At the end of the event, a communiqué was issued where the stakeholders at the meeting recommended that Osun State Government should put in for the counterpart fund of 2019 Universal Basic Education funds lying fallow at the central bank.
