Traditional rulers and religious leaders in Osun State have charged security agencies to buckle up and be proactive in dealing with potential security threats in the state.
In their separate remarks at the 25 anniversary of the Osun State Muslim Community in Osogbo at the weekend, top personalities in the state urged residents to conduct themselves peacefully before, during and after the July 16 governorship election in the state. The Aragbiji of Iragbiji, Oba Abdulrosheed Olabomi, reiterated the need to promote and ensure peace in the state to aid development and progress.

He charged local hunters to comb and secure forest areas in their localities so as to prevent criminals from hiding there.
The President of Osun State Muslim Community, Alhaji Mustafa Olawuyi, also called on the people to shun violence and criminal tendencies.
Olawuyi said the Chief Imam of Osun State, Sheikh Musa Animasahun, had mandated all Muslim clerics to keep advocating peace ahead of the election. The state governor, Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola, said his administration remained committed to peace in the state.
Oyetola who was represented by his special adviser on education, Alhaji Jamiu Olawumi, appealed to residents to be peace ambassadors.
