Fresh crisis has erupted between people of Ifon and Ilobu towns on Tuesday with the state government promptly deploying the army, police, and Nigeria Security Civil Defence Corps personnel to the towns.
The state governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, immediately imposed a 6pm to 6am curfew in the towns to prevent further spread of the crisis.
The Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment in the state, Oluomo Kolapo Alimi, said any individual or group caught instigating further violence in the towns would be arrested and prosecuted.
He said the curfew was imposed with immediate effect starting from today, Tuesday, Jan 30, 2024 on the warring towns.

The state government also set up a joint task force of all stakeholders in the warring towns.
Alimi said “Premised on the review of the security situation, His Excellency, Senator Ademola Adeleke, in his capacity as the Chief Security Officer of the state, has approved that the 6pm to 6am curfew be imposed with immediate effect.”
