Osun election victory for democracy – Sen. Waku

He made the statement on telephone yesterday while speaking to our reporter on the outcome of the election. He said the election has demonstrated the determination by people to put a stop to the practice of stealing their mandate by rigging elections and foisting unpopular people on them by the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Waku said the APC has put a stop to the planned onslaught on the party in the South West which has been the stronghold of the opposition party.
He noted that the plan to take over the region by the PDP has been put in place by the PDP for a long time which started from the last election in Ekiti.
He said the PDP as a party will never make inroads into the region as the party does not consider the welfare of the people as paramount but its members want power at all cost despite the massive support and dominance of the APC in the region.
“This defeat which the PDP suffered in the hands of the electorate in Osun has set another political discourse and Nigerians will in no distant future liberate themselves from the shackles of the PDP,” he said.
