The Osun State government has commenced polio vaccination across all the local government areas of the state.
The Commissioner for Health, Dr Rafiu Isamotu, told Daily Trust that the state government was committed to the elimination of polio.

The State Health Promotion officer, Mrs Taiwo Adeniji, charged all women to allow their children to be vaccinated.

Adeniji said the drive is a response to the unprecedented polio outbreak, recently identified in some states.
She lauded the World Health Organization (WHO), United Nations Children Emergency Fund (UNICEF) and National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) for their support.
She added that children under 5 years in the state would take the vaccine to protect them from the disease.
