Osun APC primary: Govt alleges importation of fake NSCDC, correctional service uniforms

Osun State government has raised an alarm that fake uniforms of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, and the Nigerian Correctional Service have been imported into the state by some “unscrupulous persons to disrupt the governorship primary election of All Progressives Congress (APC).

The Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation in the state, Funke Egbemode, said those who stockpiled the fake security uniforms intended to distribute them to some non-state actors to disrupt the primary election and cause chaos in the state.

The government warned those behind the devilish plot to drop the idea, stressing that it had alerted and mandated security operatives to deal decisively with any individual or group that wanted to cause violence and destruction in the state.

Reacting to the allegation, the Minister of Interior, Mr Rauf Aregbesola, through his media aide, Mr Sola Fasure, said the allegation by the state government was a plot to smear Aregbesola.

He said: “Our attention has been drawn to a sinister plot by an array of one-man pseudo non-governmental organisations, hurriedly put together and plotted by the leadership of the state government in Osun on Tuesday evening.

“Their agenda is to precipitate crisis, cause chaos in Osun and disrupt the APC governorship primary election they are poised to lose. They will then heap the blame on the Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, and call to question his integrity and leadership capacity.”
