Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State who are loyal to the Minister of Interior and former governor of the state, Mr Rauf Aregbesola, on Thursday alleged that certain fellow party members were planning to assassinate them.
The Aregbesola’s camp, known as The Osun Progressives (TOP), said some elements in government who are supporters of the incumbent, Governor Adegboyega Oyetola, have perfected plan to attack and murder some of the leaders of TOP.
The Chairman of TOP, Reverend Lowo Adebiyi, while addressing a press conference in Osogbo said security agencies have been informed about the assassination plot.
He urged security agencies to take appropriate steps by investigating the claim and ensure the protection of the lives of the leadership and members of the TOP.
Also, the state secretary of the party, Alhaji Rasaq Salinsile, said the lives of party chieftains and members who belong to TOP caucus are under threat.
The APC Director of Publicity in the state, Mr Kunle Oyatomi, said Governor Oyetola and the chairman of the party were not killers and APC is not a party of killers.
He said those that alleged threat to their lives should provide evidence.
Oyatomi said the internal crisis is not in anyone’s interest and appealed to all members of the party to see themselves as one family.
