Three top chieftains of the All Progressive Congress (APC), in Osun State have teamed up with the immediate past governor of the state and Minister of Interior, Mr Rauf Aregbesola, against the incumbent Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, as the crisis rocking their party deepened.

The new additions to his camp are Alhaji Moshood Adeoti, Dr Najeemdeen Salaam and Mr Lasun Yusuf.

Adeoti is the immediate past Secretary to the State Government, Salaam is the immediate past Speaker of Osun State House of Assembly while Yusuff is the immediate past Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives.

The three of them were governorship aspirants in the last gubernatorial election in the state and contested for the ticket with Governor Oyetola who was then the Chief of Staff to Aregbesola.

With Adeoti, Salaam and Yusuf pitching tent with Aregbesola, it has become clear that Oyetola might find it difficult to win the 2022 governorship election in the state unless the internal crisis in the APC is resolved quickly.

Speaking at the Aregbesola’s campaign office in Osogbo, Adeoti, who was flanked by Salaam and Yusuff, told members of The Osun Progressive (TOP) caucus of APC who are Aregbesola’s loyalists to remain committed.

Also, the ex-House of Representatives’ Deputy Speaker, Lasun Yusuf, said he decided to join hands with other leaders in TOP caucus because of his relationship with Aregbesola and his love for the progressives.

The camps of Aregbesola and Oyetola have been having a running battle for a while over the control of the party in the state.
