Vice President Yemi Osinbajo will represent President Muhammadu Buhari at an Extraordinary ECOWAS summit holding today in Niamey, Niger Republic.
The Summit, which will include other ECOWAS Heads of State and Government, will review the ongoing situation in Guinea Bissau.
Laolu Akande, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Office of the Vice President, said in a statement issued on Friday that the Vice President who departed Abuja this morning returned later today.
The Security Council of the UN On Wednesday called on all actors in the Guines Bissau to preserve stability and to respect directives of the African Union and the ECOWAS and affirmed the need to hold presidential elections on Nov. 24 as planned.
Condemning recent fatal violence, the Council urged all political actors of the country to show utmost restraint and to resort to dialogue as the only means of resolving their differences. (NAN)
