Acting President Yemi Osinbajo has assented to the law establishing the Diaspora Commission and the amendment of the Petroleum Training Institute (PTI).

Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters (Senate), Senator Ita Enang, who disclosed this in a statement said the two laws have come into effect as laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

He explained that the Diaspora Commission Act establishes the commission under the supervisory jurisdiction of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“It has the responsibility to co-ordinate and organize Nigerians in and from the Diaspora to contribute human capital and material resources, including their expertise for the development of Nigeria, and its constituent states, “he said.
