Victor Osimhen has dismissed talks that he is under tremendous pressure to do well at the 2023 AFCON soon after he was named CAF Player of the year last month.
The Napoli striker opened his goals account in the Super Eagles opening Group A game against Equatorial Guinea.
However, he has not been clinical in front of goal at the AFCON after he threw away several clear-cut chances as Nigeria navigate their way through to the knockout rounds of the tournament in Cote d’Ivoire.
“I am not under pressure,” Osimhen maintained.

“I have won the title (African Player of the Year), but it’s now in the past.
“What is most important for me now is to do well with the team, make sure the team do well and win the AFCON.
“I don’t care about my individual performance. I could be on the bench and the other players get the job done.
“I want to win the AFCON with his group. I am ready to help the team.”
He said he will back the Super Eagles to be African champions again at this tournament.
“We made a statement win against the Ivorians, it showed that we can get the job done,” he restated.
“We have a chance to win because we have the quality. We are really ready to give everything to actualise our dream.”
