Oshiomhole faults labour’s strike over Ajaero

The senator representing Edo North Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Comrade Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole, has picked holes in the current industrial action embarked upon by organised labour.

He spoke to State House reporters at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Oshiomhole, who is a former chairman of the NLC said he would have loved to see the organised labour mobilising workers to ensure that states and local governments implemented similar palliatives provided by the federal government to mitigate the effects of the removal of subsidies on fuel and the unification of exchange rates on the citizens.

He said the NLC should rather “robustly engage” all the state governors who were not implementing the current agreements and not pursuing “a federal government’s employees strike.”

“So, if you mobilise private sector workers, state employees workers, local government workers, and now there is an agreement on N35,000 across the board, I want to see NLC saying there will be no sleep in any state where this is not being implemented. That is all I can say.”

Oshiomhole, who said he does not support the brutalisation of any Nigerian not to talk of a labour leader, regretted that the current strike was not about critical issues.
