The nominations were announced by actress Jennifer Lawrence and Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences President, Tom Sherak.

The movie was nominated for the best categories for Picture, Director, Adapted Screenplay, Achievement in Art Direction, Achievement in Cinematography, Achievement in Costume Design, Achievement in Film Editing, Achievement in Sound Editing, Achievement in Sound Mixing and Achievement in Visual Effects.

Meanwhile, attention is directed at two of the top actresses from 2011’s movie review – Veteran Hollywood actress Meryl Streep and Michelle Williams. They lead the list of contenders for the Best Actress category for their brilliant roles as Margaret Thatcher and Marilyn Monroe in the movies ‘Iron Lady’ and ‘My Week with Marilyn’ respectively.

Other nominations include Glenn Close (Albert Nobbs), Viola Davis (The Help) and Rooney Mara (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo).

The ‘Best Actor’ category also sees Hollywood heavyweights Brad Pitt, George Clooney and actor/filmmaker Gary Oldman all nominated. Other contenders include Demian Bichir and Jean Dujardin.

Seasoned movie directors Woody Allen and Martin Scorsese will also slug it out in the ‘Best Director’ category.

The awards are scheduled for Sunday, February 26, 2012 at Hollywood’s Kodak Theatre and will be broadcast live.
