Ortom, PDP planning to unleash terror in Benue – APC candidate

All Progressives Congress (APC)’s House of Representatives candidate for Makurdi/Guma federal constituency in Benue State, Engr. Conrad Terhide Utaan, on Thursday accused Governor Samuel Ortom and the PDP in the state of planning to unleash terror in the state during this Saturday’s elections.

But in a swift reaction, the governor and the PDP have dismissed the accusation, saying that the APC and its candidate are already jittery of the defeat ahead of them at the polls.

Utaan had alleged at a press conference in Makurdi that the governor and his party, had imported military and police uniforms which they intended would be used by their armed militia under the guise of Livestock Guards.

“In the next few days based on information we have gathered, Governor Samuel Ortom and the PDP, plans to unleash mayhem and violence in areas where they believe they would not have support.

He said that it became necessary to raise the alarm so that the issues could be addressed immediately.

But, Governor Samuel Ortom who responded to the allegations through his Chief Press Secretary, Terver Akase, noted that the APC was already in a panic mood and as such could go to any extent to blackmail him.

“It is tale of defeated people. What the candidate has said is all about fears over the outcome of Saturday’s election.

“Ortom has not left anyone in doubt over his commitment to ending killings against the Benue people. The same governor cannot turn around to arm militias,” he said.

Similarly, the state publicity secretary of PDP, Bemgba Iortyom, remarked that the APC has however lost support of the electorate and therefore had degenerated to lies in order to score cheap political goals.
