The Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has commended the management of Lobi Stars led by the chairman and Deputy Governor, Engineer Benson Abounu and vice-chairman, Dominic Iorfa, on the prudent utilisation of resources allocated to the state-owned club.

The governor who applauded the leadership of the club while on inspection of the ongoing renovation work on the once-abandoned McCarthy stadium said the officials deserve commendation for achieving so much with so little.

Ortom, therefore, directed immediately that a budget be presented to him for completion of the remaining work on the club’s camp.

He said “This is what is called creativity. This is what is called working to enhance productivity. I cannot remember having a budget presented to me to put this facility where it is today but out of the meager resources, the chairman and the vice Chairman have been able to put this in place. “It means when you give them resources, they will do better. So, I have directed that a budget be presented to me for the remaining part of this project.

“If they were able to use their limited resources to do this, their budget should be modest. If they do anything outside that, I will prune it down.”

On his part, Iorfa thanked the governor for his unwavering support and promised that the club will perform better in the coming season.

He also thanked the Deputy Governor and Chairman of the club, Engr. Benson Abounu, for his continued support and fatherly love.

The ultra modern McCarthy camp boasts of 22 fully furnished rooms, a canteen, a power generating set, a standard training pitch, a bore-hole and a match assessing among others.
