The outgoing Governor of Benue State, Dr Samuel Ortom, has eulogised the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) for moulding and developing youths on leadership skills.
Ortom, represented by his Deputy, Engr Benson Abounu, stated this while commissioning the new NYSC Multipurpose Hall at the Permanent Orientation Camp, Wanunne, in Tarka LGA.
He said, “NYSC is a noble programme to promote, as the scheme is doing a wonderful job to the nation.”
The governor emphasised that the hall project was a fulfilled promise by his administration, and commended the contractor, Chief Emmanuel Viashima, for satisfying and fulfilling the pledge of his contractual obligations.

He implored the NYSC State Coordinator, Abe Dankaro Ashumate, to reach out to the incoming administration and seek more interventions to address camp facilities’ deficit.
Earlier in his welcome remarks, Mr Ashumate applauded the governor and his team for prioritising NYSC needs in their projects and programmes.
He said, “Since my assumption of duty in the state, NYSC is among federal agencies that have received support.”
