Oritsejafor donates N3m to Bauchi Christians

The money is to be disbursed as revolving loan to help the underprivileged among the Zaar.
The Zaar who are predominantly non-Muslim minority in Bauchi State are found in the southern part of the state.
The people led by their paramount ruler, the Gung Zaar (select), Air Commodore Ishaku Komo (rtd), were at the CAN headquarters, Abuja to share their problems with the CAN leadership.
Oritsejafor told his guests: “I have no impact or influence on what’s political but you have my support.
“I’ll not sit and watch any individual unjustly treated…once there’s victimization, deprivation, poverty is high. We guarantee you our prayers.”
The CAN president asked “Where’re the human rights groups?” He said “some of them are fighting for Boko Haram but I’ve not seen the civil society groups coming out to hold press conferences for the marginalized groups.”
He said the story of the only woman in the state assembly [Rifkatu Danna] being kicked out was an indictment on the women society.
Earlier, the Gung Zaar said: “We seek support from our spiritual leader. We submit to him our plight.”
The traditional ruler who said the Zaar people have been suppressed in Bauchi State for long maintained that government policies there are mainly Islamic.
He drew the attention of CAN to the relocation of the headquarters of Tafawa Balewa local government area, closure of government Girls College and general hospital in the Zaar chiefdom.
He also mentioned the suspension of the only female Christian lawmaker in the state assembly, arrest and detention of Zaar youths.
