Open schools, says Labour, CSOs

The Plateau State Labour/Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) COVID-19 Situation Room has decried the non-reopening of schools by the federal government as a result of COVID-19.

In a statement signed by the group’s Chairman, Steve Aluko and its Secretary, Paul Jatau, the group faulted the statement credited to the Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu, that schools under the supervision of the Federal Ministry of Education will not reopen on August 4th or any time soon.

The group said it is also lending its voice to the disagreement with the Minister’s remarks in several quarters, saying that it is very imperative to reopen schools to allow children who are leaders of tomorrow carry on with their education.

It also reminded the government on the need to provide the necessary framework and enabling environment for schools preparatory prior to reopening.
