Your Excellency, Sir,

I wish to start by congratulating you on the numerous developmental strides which are beginning to yield positive results on the economy and the polity.

Your Excellency, I wish to bring to your notice undemocratic activities going on in my dear home state of Plateau, where the speaker of the House of Assembly has vehemently refused to swear in 15 All Progressives Congress (APC) and one Labour Party (LP) members-elect as ordered by the courts since December, 2023, when they were issued with certificates of return by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

As it stands, the House of Assembly which comprises 24 members, now has only eight members representing a mere 33 per cent of the total number.

This has left a larger percentage of Plateau people unrepresented in the assembly, with the speaker acting as deputy speaker, majority leader, minority leader and chief whip. This is totally unacceptable and has hindered the trickling down of development to the grassroots.

The APC in Plateau, despite the odds, delivered over 300,000 votes to you during the last elections. It is our hope that you will use your good and exalted office to intervene in the political imbroglio currently bedeviling the Plateau State House of Assembly as a proof and testament to the fact that we have not been abandoned.

May God continue to guide you as you steer the ship of this great nation.

Ramadan kareem.
