Open letter to Governor Abubakar Sani Bello

Your Excellency Sir,

It is barely one year and some months after you were sworn-in as the Governor of Niger State to pilot the affairs of the state for the next four years. This came in the midst of economic recession, meltdown and or downturn that negatively affect not only the individual states in the Federation but the whole country.
While the demand of the people increases and the resources to meet the demand decrease, then development is heading for the rocks. Regrettably this is the situation that most states found themselves including our dearest power state.
Perhaps meetings have been held among the concerned parties on how to drag the state out of the woods, it needs more than sharing the excess crude money. After the drastic changes witness in the federal revenue generation especially crude oil bombing engineered by Niger Delta Avengers. It needs dedication, commitment and sacrifice.
Sir, the support you got that reflected in April 11 election that resulted in your election will just be 1% of the support you will get if only you will be patriotic enough and dedicative enough to sacrifice at least 50% of your salary and allowances and impose same upon all commissioners and other political appointees under your injunction. All this is to save the ‘vulnerable’ civil servants, especially those that are yet to collect their salaries for the month of May.
And to the good people who look up to your led-government administration for the introduction of free education from primary, secondary and tertiary institutions across the state, construction of roads, re strengthening of security system to guarantee safety of lives and properties, provision of constant power and water supply, reimbursement of youths and women empowerments programme in order to maximize the poverty to its lowest level in the state, reinvesting in health sector for providing adequate medical equipment to our hospitals to pave way for an enabling environment for best and free medical delivery to all sundry citizens of the state, reform the civil service commission and their welfares especially primary schools teachers, ensuring justice in the judiciary sector, put emphasis on Zungeru tourism industry and other professional revenue generating innovation and small scale enterprises etc.
Sir, I may not have the opportunity to meet you face-to-face, but I am opportune to have access to this platform for which I am sure you will come across the message sooner or it will be forwarded to you through your good entourage.
Usman Mohammed, Mass Communication, IBB University, Lapai-Niger State.
