The Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi has been suspended for six months by the Osun State Council of Traditional Rulers.

The decision was reached at an emergency meeting on Friday held by royal fathers at Osun State Government Secretariat, Abere.

The meeting was presided over by Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi.

No reason was given for his suspension but he was recently accused of punching the Agbowu of Ogbaagba, Oba Dhikrulahi Akinropo, during a peace meeting at the office of the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 11, Bashir Makama, last week in Osogbo.

But Oba Akanbi denied the allegation at a press conference on Tuesday, saying it was a “desperate gang up against him”.

The council also constituted a committee headed by Orangun of Ila, Oba Wahab Adedotun, to further investigate the matter involving Oluwo and Obas in Iwo land.
