The Court of Appeal in Abuja has adjourned the appeals filed by the suspended Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Walter Onnoghen, to February 27 for hearing.

A three-member panel of justices presided by Justice Datti Yahaya adjourned the matter following an application by counsel to Federal Government, Aliyu Umar (SAN) for time to amend his processes.

But counsel to Justice Onnoghen, Chris Uche (SAN) opposed the application, arguing that it was meant to delay the matter.

In his ruling, Justice Yahaya held that applications that delay the proceedings would no longer be entertained.

Onnoghen’s three appeals include an application challenging the jurisdiction of the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) to hear allegations of false asset declaration against him; an application challenging the CCT order for his suspension; and an application challenging the decision of the CCT to hear the three applications together.
