The Court of Appeal in Abuja will on Friday deliver judgment in the appeals by former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen challenging the charges of non-declaration of assets against him.
The Court of Appeal presided by Justice Abdul Aboki had on February 12 adjourned the three earlier appeals by Justice Onnoghen indefinitely after the appeals were consolidated.
Onnoghen has also filed a fresh appeal challenging his conviction and ban from public office by the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) on April 18.
Following the filing of the six-count charges against him by the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) at the CCT on January 11, Onnoghen filed an appeal challenging the jurisdiction of the CCT.
He also filed an appeal challenging the ex parte order of the CCT on January 23, 2019 removing him from office, and another appeal challenging the refusal of his no-case submission at the CCT.
Following the recommendation by the National Judicial Council (NJC) to the president for his retirement over the conviction by the CCT, Justice Onnoghen on Thursday April 4, resigned his office.
