Only TYO can speak for Tiv, says leader

A socio-cultural organization of Tiv people worldwide, Mdzough U Tiv, on Friday, said only the Tiv Youth Organisation (TYO) under its operation can speak for Tiv youth worldwide as the body disowned any other group masquerading in such guise.

President General of Mdzough U Tiv, worldwide, CP Iorbee Ihagh (rtd.), said at a press conference in Makurdi that it became necessary to clarify the matter in the interest of the public because “one Mike Msuaan, masquerading as leader of one ‘Tiv Youth Council’, a group not known to the Tiv nation had taken a swipe on the Bishop of Sokoto, Dr Mathew Hassan Kukah over his Christmas message which had received commendation by every segment of the country.”

Ihagh noted that it was a well-known fact that what Bishop Kukah said on his Christmas message is a true reflection of happenings in the country, Adding that “Instead of attacking the Bishop, the President should see the message as a wakeup call.”
