Onigbinde defends Doma Utd defeat to Shooting Stars

Doma United head coach, Akinade Onigbinde has spoken out in defence of his team’s 3-1 defeat to Shooting Stars in their match at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan on Sunday.

According to Onigbinde, the team’s decision-making for the game was impacted by their forthcoming midweek matchup with Gombe United. When deciding which players to start for the encounter against Shooting Stars, he and his coaching staff gave much thought to the tactical and physical demands of the two games.

“We had to reshuffle the team for our trip to Ibadan. We have three of the first team players in the team as we want to keep our players fresh for the midweek fixture against Bendel Insurance.

“We have to embark on a two-day journey back to Gombe and to execute the game on Wednesday we needed to make some changes.

“I came to Ibadan with my second team but that is not an excuse to lose.  We will seek to bounce back from this defeat and secure a positive result in our pursuit to meet the target in the ongoing football season” the former FRSC coach said during his post-match interview.

Doma United will lock horns with Bendel Insurance in a matchday six encounter at the Pantami Stadium on Wednesday.

In the same vein, the technical adviser, Shooting Stars Sports Club, 3SC, Coach Gbenga Ogunbote has reiterated the need for the team to finish well as the season progresses.

“This is a new season with a new team and the team must finish strong. The last season was abridged but this is not and the approach is different with the aim to finish strong,” he said.
