One killed, others missing as kidnappers ambush travelers in Kwara

One person has been killed and many said to be missing as suspected kidnappers invaded Isin LGA of Kwara State on Tuesday.

The suspect, it was gathered, stormed Ijara/Isin road and abducted many victims who were travelers, killing a local chief, Mr Toyin Adeyemi who hails from Pamo, in Isin community.

According to a relative of the deceased, who spoke with our correspondent, the deceased was sick and went to buy some drugs. It was on his way coming on his motorcycle that the kidnappers ambushed him and other travelers.

“He was shot death and we met his corpse in the pool of his blood. It has been deposited in the mortuary in Omu-Aran. For now, two others are still missing but we don’t know if the number is more than that,” the source. 

The spokesman of the Kwara State Police command, SP Okasanmi Ajayi, confirmed the incident in Ilorin on Wednesday.

He said “One person was killed, one still missing according to the information available.

“Policemen were deployed to the scene yesterday. I will push out details as soon as it is available please,” Okasanmi added.
