A 30-year-old man, Samuel Monday, has been killed by gunmen suspected to be herders in Barmo community, Wamba Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
A monarch, the Oriye of Barmo, Yakubu Sarki, disclosed this Wednesday when the state’s Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Mr. Dogo Shammah, visited the community to condole the deceased family.

The incident, according to the monarch, occurred on Tuesday night and caused panic among the residents.
He said the assailants snatched the deceased motorcycle before they strangle him to death.
He said: “The gunmen believed to be herders snatched the motorcycle of the deceased and brutalised him to the point of death.”
The monarch, however, called on the Nasarawa State Government to protect the community from attacks.
“People of the community no longer go to their farms or move freely because of the notorious herdsmen. I personally was recently attacked by fully armed herdsmen in my farm,” he lamented.
Earlier, the Commissioner, Dogo Shammah expressed sadness over the unfortunate incident, calling on the youths and members of the community not to take laws into their hands as a way of revenge.
