One person was killed while three others sustained injuries as a building collapsed at the Woji axis of Port Harcourt in Rivers State.
The incident, our reporter learnt, occurred in the late hours of Wednesday.
One of the victims, who survived the incident, blamed it on Tuesday’s torrential rain which he said affected the foundation of the building which was still under construction.
The victim said one person lost his life in the incident while three others sustained various degrees of injuries.
“The Tuesday torrential rain which affected the foundation of the building was responsible for the building collapsed.
“The rain was very severe and flood had already eaten deep into the foundation of the building.
“At that point, some of the workers were on the ground making an effort to put reinforcement on the foundation.
“The pillars of the building started caving in and the entire structures collapsed.
“One person died in the incident while three other persons that sustained injuries were evacuated to a hospital,” he said.
Our reporter could not get the reaction of the State Police Command’s Public Relation Officer, SP Nnamdi Omoni, about the incident as of the time of filing the report.
