One dies as classroom collapses on students in Ogun

A classroom on Thursday collapsed on three female students of Nazareth High School, Imeko, in Imeko-Afon Local Government Area of Ogun State, killing one and injuring two others.

The Councillor of Imeko Ward, Samuel Sunday Ojoawo, confirmed the incident on Sunday, saying the council had ordered the demolition of the affected block.

Mr Ojoawo said, “The incident is highly disheartening and pathetic. Three girls were involved in the incident, one died and two got injured. One of the injured victims sustained minor injuries and the other is responding to treatment at the hospital?”

When contacted, the Chairman of Imeko-Afon, Yahaya Fadipe, said he was not around when the incident happened and that he was not the principal of the school.

The Special Adviser (SA) to the Governor on Primary and Secondary Education, Mrs Ronke Soyombo, said the Commissioner for Education, Prof Abayomi Arigbabu, “is the only one who can talk on the incident.”
