One person has been killed and scores of people were injured in a fire disaster at Kalari Muna Elbadawy Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camp in Maiduguri, Borno State.
Daily Trust gathered that the fire which occurred around 1.30 pm Friday was allegedly caused by a cooking fire which destroyed dozens of shanties and properties of the IDPs.

The Principal Information Officer of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Abdulkadir Ibrahim, who confirmed the incident to newsmen, said that operatives of the fire service have brought the situation under control.
Ibrahim added that Officials of NEMA, Nigerian Red cross, BOMESA and other stakeholders have administered first aid to the injured victims.
