But the former Bayelsa United and Sharks man is unsure if the Super Eagles will go the full length in clinching the Chan title on first attempt.
He also warned the Super Eagles that their opponents will not take them lightly.
“I have not really seen the team play but from the information I am getting and with the old boys in the team I think they will do well,” Onduku said to supersport.com from his base in Romania.
“I can’t tell for now (if they’re capable of winning the Chan) because I have not watched them play and have not watched other teams play. So I don’t really know but I think we are champions and all the teams will be scared of us and they will also want to come strong since they are playing against champions of Africa.”
He, however, dismissed insinuations that the Chan Eagles will struggle following the departure of himself, Godfrey Oboabona, Juwon Oshaniwa and Uche Kalu who were core members of the first-team this year.
Onduku believes that there are still a handful players in the present squad that can help the Super Eagles do well.
“Of course I’m sure they will do well because majority of the players I played with are still in the team. Azubuike (Egwuekwe), (Solomon) Kwambe, (Benjamin) Francis, (Chigozie) Agbim, (Sunday) Mba, Ejike (Uzoenyi), Gambo (Muhammad) and other players invited from the league to make up the team are all good too,” said Onduku.
Onduku joined modest Romanian outfit, CS Concordia Chiajna, in the summer of this year and has been one of the influential players at the club.
