Ondo traditional ruler, Olowo of Owo dies at 77

One of the top traditional rulers in Ondo state, the Olowo of Owo, Oba Folagbade Olateru-Olagbegi SAN cfr, on Wednesday morning joined his ancestors in Owo town. He was aged 77.

Oba Folagbade, who was given the staff of office by the late Ondo governor Olusegun Agagu on December 11, 2003, was the eldest son of his late father, Sir Olateru Olagbegi.

A lawyer by profession, the late Oba Folagbade was appointed Chancellor of the University of Benin in 2005 and later Chancellor, University of Abuja and also celebrated his 15th anniversary on the throne in 2014.

Until his demise, he was currently the Chancellor of University of Jos, Plateau state and former Chairman of Ondo state Council of Obas.

He was married to Olori Ololade Olateru-Olagbegi and the family was blessed with children and grandchildren.
