The Nigeria Police have arrested a Boko Haram insurgent, Idris Ibrahim Babawo, also known as Idiko.
He has been on the wanted list of the military for several months.
Idris Babawo, according to the spokesman of the Ondo State Police Command, Mr. Femi Joseph, was arrested in Isua Akoko, the headquarters of the Akoko South-East Local Government Area.
Joseph said yesterday that Babawo was travelling from Bauchi State and heading towards Lagos in a truck which broke down in Isua where he was picked up.
The PPRO said the police had to hand him over to the military to do their investigation.
The Assistant Director, Army Public Relations of the 32 Artillery Brigade, Akure, Captain Ojo Adelegan, said the suspect’s picture bears serial number 165 on the wanted terrorist list of Boko Haram members pasted at all the military formations in the country.
Adelegan said, “The suspect (Babawo) was brought to our office by the police and we and the Department of State Service conducted our preliminary investigation and confirmed that the man was on our wanted list. He is confirmed to be one of the Boko Haram leaders in the poster.”
