Ondo gov’ship: 15 APC aspirants not a threat to my ambition – Gov Aiyedatiwa

Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has expressed confidence in his ambition, stating that the 15 aspirants contesting the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket for the November 16 governorship election in the state do not pose a threat to his candidacy.

Speaking to newsmen after submitting his expression of interest and nomination forms at the APC national secretariat in Abuja, Governor Aiyedatiwa emphasized that he is the frontrunner in the race.

The APC has scheduled its primary poll for April 20, with 16 aspirants, including the incumbent governor, purchasing expressions of interest and nomination forms for the direct mode primary.

I’m releasing N140m for delegates membership forms – Jimoh Ibrahim

In a related development, Senator Jimoh Ibrahim, one of the APC aspirants for the Ondo South senatorial district, announced his intention to pay N140 million to the party for 100 delegates’ membership forms, enabling his supporters to vote for him in the primary poll on April 20.

Speaking at the APC national secretariat, Senator Ibrahim dismissed the alleged endorsement of Governor Aiyedatiwa by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, stating that winning elections is not solely dependent on endorsements. He cited Tinubu’s own contested path to the APC ticket as an example.

Meanwhile, the party has extended the sale of nomination and expression of interest forms for the Ondo State governorship election to Friday.
