Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the deputy governor of Ondo State, has asked the people of the state to pray for Governor Rotimi Akeredolu as he embarked on a medical leave abroad.
Daily Trust had, on Tuesday, reported that Governor Akeredolu, in a letter forwarded to the House of Assembly, proceeded on a 21-day medical leave.
The governor also transmitted power to the deputy, Mr Aiyedatiwa, to start ‘acting’ as the governor, pending his return from the medical trip.
Mr. Aiyedatiwa, in a statement he signed and issued to reporters in Akure, on Wednesday, pleaded with the people not to relent in their supplications to God for the quick recovery of the governor to resume back to duty.

While dispelling the rumour that the ill-health of the governor had continued to disrupt “Government activities in the state”, Mr Aiyedatiwa, however, urged politicians in the state to avoid heating the polity in their preparation for the next year’s election.
