The Ondo State House of Assembly has confirmed Olayide Adelami as the new deputy governor of the state.
Adelami was nominated on Wednesday for appointment as the new deputy governor by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
He was screened in the Assembly during plenary on Thursday.
His confirmation by the lawmakers was sequel to the submission and consideration of a report by the House Selection Committee, Chaired by the Speaker, Olamide Oladiji.

Jaiyeola Benjamin, Clerk of the House of Assembly, had ealier read the letter forwarded to the lawmakers for the consideration of Adelami to fill the vacant seat of the deputy governor.
Before his final confimation, Deputy Speaker of the Assembly, Abayomi Akinruntan, who submitted the report had recommended the confirmation of the appointment of Adelami.
Akinruntan said the nominee, who hails from the same hometown of Owo with late former Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, had been properly screened, noting that he responded to all questions raised by the committee in an eloquent and explicit manner.
He said Adelami had a clear understanding of the position, stressing that he possessed the required academic qualifications and was fit to accomplish the task.
Oluwole Ogunmolasuyi, the Majority Leader of the House, also moved the motion for the report to be considered and the nominee be confirmed.
Ogunmolasuyi’s motion was seconded by Felix Afe, the member representing Akoko North West II in the House of Assembly.
Oladiji, who granted the confirmation of the deputy governor, urged him to put in his best as he prepared to serve the people of the state.
Responding, Adelami appreciated Aiyedatiwa for nominating him, promising not to betray the confidence reposed in him.
He also appreciated the lawmakers for the efforts they put in place during the screening and confirmation, noting that promoting understanding between arms of government will be his priority.
