Ondo: Army launches exercise ‘Still Waters’ to curb kidnapping, banditry

The Nigerian Army has expressed its commitment to flush out criminal elements and strengthen the security of lives and properties in Ondo State.

 Brigadier General Muktar Adamu, Commander 32 Artillery Brigade, Owena Cantonment, gave the assurance during the flag-off of a field training exercise codenamed exercise Still Water III 2023, held in Owo on Monday.

 He explained that the idea behind the security exercise was to sharpen the troops’ operational skills and provide avenues to conduct tactical operations to tackle insecurity.

 According to him, the exercise would also assist in identifying criminal hideouts and flushing out kidnappers, armed robbers, drug peddlers, armed bandits and cultists, among others in the Area of Responsibility (AOR).

Speaking, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, promised to strengthen the capacities of the 32 Artillery Brigade, as far as the security of the state was concerned.

Akeredolu, who was represented by Adetunji Adeleye, Special Adviser to the Governor on Security, urged a synergy with his office among the security agents to ensure a sense of safety in the state.
