Omokungbe emerges Yabatech Rector

Obafemi Omokungbe has been nominated as the new Rector of Yaba College of Technology (Yabatech).

In a statement made available to Daily Trust in Lagos by the Yabatech’s spokesperson, Dr Charles Oni, the institution said he is the   first alumnus of the institution to be so appointed since its creation 70 years ago.

Omokungbe, 55, is succeeding Dr. Margaret Kudirat Ladipo, who completed her tenure on December 10, 2017. His appointment was announced by the Chairman, Yabatech Governing Council, Prince Lateef Fagbemi.

Omokungbe joined the services of Yabatech as Lecturer III in 1993 and rose through the ranks to become a Chief Lecturer in the Civil Engineering Department, School of Civil Engineering and Natural Resources, Yabatech in 2009. 

He was Head, Department of Civil Engineering (2007 – 2009) and was former President of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (Yabatech Branch).
