Omenana, a tri-monthly speculative fiction magazine, has released its 16th issue.
This issue contains six stories from writers across Africa that are futuristic, metaphysical, and some urban legend, and as its editorial written by Iquo DianaAbasi says, “which science tries to explain away, an interesting showcase of gods at play where human destinies are the pawns on the chessboard of life, and the things we do for love.”
The stories include ‘A Magician’ by Rešoketšwe Manenzhe, ‘Drummer Boy in A World of Wise Men’ by Tobi Ogundiran, ‘Silhouettes of Souls by Precious C.K., ‘The Game’ by Alvin L. Kathembe, ‘Where You Go’ by Somto O. Ihezue, and ‘Fair Trade’ by Natalie Sifuma.
Omenana is the Igbo word for divinity and loosely translates as “culture”.
According to what is written on its website, the magazine is looking for well-written speculative fiction that bridges the gap between past, present and future through imagination and “shakes us out of the corner we have pushed ourselves into.”
