Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba (Dr.) Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi, has commenced construction of the first Nigerian Arc of Triumph monument in Iwo, his country home. The old structure which adorned the roundabout has been demolished and the new arc under construction.
The new monument under construction is situated at the roundabout, the heart of the ancient city.
Oluwo stated that his commitment to maintaining and upgrading public facilities under his domain as an example in serving humanity.
The monarch enjoined Nigerians most especially his immediate subjects in Iwo to emulate his leadership style for the interest and progress of the society in general. “I’m setting the pace here from Iwo, fixing the fixable. I want my subjects to emulate the trait of serving humanity. I feed the poor, offer scholarship, currently renovating Iwo Central Mosque and constructing an ultra-modern round about at Iwo night market square,” he said
He added that when completed, the monument will serve as a tourist destination of international grade and a cynosure of interest to the community of which the citizens could be proud of.
The arch of Triumph known as one of the famous monument is also located in Paris, France.
