Olukere advocates for laws empowering Amotekun to bear arms

The Olukere of Ikere-Ekiti, Ganiyu Obasoyin, has said that the battle against insecurity in the South West and Ekiti State, in particular, would be more impactful when operatives of the Amotekun security network are allowed to bear arms.

Obasoyin, said the establishment of the Amotekun in Ekiti State has brought about far-reaching results in security matters.

The traditional ruler appealed to state governments in the South West to look into a way to promulgate laws that will give them the freedom to carry small arms which will help them in securing the people.

The Olukere spoke at Ikere-Ekiti during the traditional thanksgiving, where chiefs and families paid homage as part of the Olosunta festival celebrations in the community.
