The Olufofo community in Ankpa Local Government Area of Kogi State has renewed its appeal to both state and the federal governments to address the erosion menace that has ravaged the community in recent years.
The community, through the youth leader, Mr. Yahaya Achor, said that the appeal has become necessary following several cries to both governments to address the menace that has pulled down houses and economic trees with no results.

According to Mr. Achor, who spoke to our correspondent, the community through its representatives in both state House of Assembly and House of Representatives has called on the two tiers of government for urgent assistance without any response.
He said that a lot of people have relocated from the community because their properties have been pulled down by the erosion, stressing that unless urgent measures are taken soon, the community will be wiped out in the next rainy season.
He lamented that farmers and transporters in the community have been counting their losses over the years because of the adverse effects of the erosion on their businesses, and called on the governments to take advantage of this dry season to address the perennial problem.
The youth leader said that the community was elated in the past when their representatives in the state House of Assembly and the House of Representatives, Alhaji Rabiu Isaka and Abdullahi Ibrahim respectively, came and surveyed the area with the view to addressing the menace but regretted that nothing has happened since then.
He also called on the state government to reconstruct Ofugo-Inye road that is not passable, stressing that very soon the two communities will be cut off from each other
