Olorogun breaks record as first female mace bearer in Lagos Assembly

A Sergeant-at-Arms, Mrs. Oyindamola Olorogun has become the first female mace bearer in the Lagos State House of Assembly.

Olorogun is one of the female members of the Sergeant-at-Arms Corps of Lagos House of Assembly.

She is the first female to bear the mace in the 41years of the Assembly.

Her voice resounded through the Chambers when she shouted ‘Order! Mr. Speaker’ as she bore the mace to lead the Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa into the Chamber.

The sight of the 33-year-old mother of two, who was smartly dressed in uniform with her spectacle, won the admiration of all present at the proceeding, including visitors to the Assembly.

It was gathered that the Sergeant-at-Arms Corps of Lagos Assembly was recently enlarged to include females.

Olorogun who joined the Lagos Assembly Service Commission in 2019 is an HND graduate of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta.
