Old students have taken steps to give a new life to Lennon Memorial College, Ageva, Kogi State, a school badly dilapidated after nearly 40 years of abandonment. One of the old students  built  six classrooms while  several others pledged  similar intervention.

Former speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly and one among the 1985 set of the school, Momohjimoh Lawal, built and donated two blocks of three classrooms each. Hon Justice Josiah Majebi of the 1977 set rehabilitated the staff common room while the trio of Hajiya Hajarat Abdulsalam, Mrs Mariyetu Moses and Mrs Ibrahim Christiana (1978 set) jointly donated N500,000.

Much of this came to light on the occasion of the grand finale of the 50th anniversary of the college on Saturday where the chairperson, Hajia Hassana Momoh (1984 set) donated N150,000 and when numerous other members and guests made pledges mostly to rehabilitate some structures or build new ones.

The National President of the Old Students Association of the college, Hon Akande Eyivada James, who passed the information to Daily Trust yesterday, mentioned areas needing urgent attention in the school as rehabilitation of 18 classrooms, the hostels, and staff quarters, among others.

Governor Yahaya Bello who was represented on the occasion by his special adviser on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Abubakar Ohere, promised to sink a borehole and rehabilitate the multi-purpose laboratory and site the e-library of the Central Senatorial District in the school.
