Olaitain suffered a heart scare after he went down unchallenged during a Greek Super League game against Panathinaikos in March and he has not played since then.
The 20-year-old, who was part of John Obuh’s team to the 2013 Fifa Under-20 World Championship in Turkey, was one of the standout players in the Olympiacos side before this setback.
It was later confirmed the emerging midfielder had collapsed due to Viral Myocarditis which made him miss the remaining matches of the 2013/2014 season and has not featured yet in the new season.
He has been on the road to recovery and doing aerobic exercises on his own, but engaged with the main squad for the first time on Thursday.
“I’m beginning to feel my body responding. I feel great but will take it one step at a time,” Olaitan told the Olympiacos official website (www.olympiacos.org).
“It’s very important that I try and be patient, but I’m really happy with my progress.”
The former Mighty Jets player was able to complete all the technical exercises set up by coach Mitchell as he gradually makes his return to full fitness.
Olaitan was one of the youngsters initially tipped to be called up into the Nigeria squad for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil but the incident scuttled such plans.
