Michael Olaha was the hero for Abia Warriors as he scored once and provided an assist in his side’s 3-1 win over champions, Enyimba in the Abia derby yesterday.
Olaha opened the scoring for the Warriors in the 32nd minute following good work by Ndifreke Effiong in the rescheduled Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) game decided at the Umuahia Township Stadium.
He then turned provider three minutes before the break with Effiong this time the beneficiary as the Warriors took a 2-0 lead into the break.
Enyimba pulled a goal back through Alloy Brown in the 74th minute to set the nerves of the home faithful jangling.
The Warriors would have the last say though, as they won a penalty of their own which was subsequently converted by Shedrack Asiegbu in the 80th minute to put some gloss on the final scoreline.
In another rescheduled NPFL game played on Wednesday, Kano Pillars defeated El-Kanemi Warriors 1-0 thanks to a well-struck Rabiu Ali penalty on the quarter-hour mark.
There was to be no more scoring at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano as Pillars sealed a crucial win.
