Top seed table tennis player Bose Odusanya, yesterday extended her dominance in the women’s singles of the annual Molade Okoya-Thomas Table Tennis Cup as she retained the title for the ninth time consecutively.
While in the men’s singles category, Muiz Adegoke secured the title for the second time consecutively.
At the grand finale played inside the indoor sports hall at Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos, it was a repeat of the last edition between Odusanya and Anu Anjuwon as both of them were the finalists in the women’s singles category.
But despite Odusanya being a nursing mother, it was a stroll in the park against Anjuwon which ended 4-0.
Also Adegoke who won David Fayele to win his maiden title in 2022 had an easy ride against Emmanuel Augustine with a comprehensive 4-0 (12-10, 11-7, 13-11, 11-3).
Elated about his feat, Adegoke described the win as compensation for missing the 2023 World Youth Championship held in Slovenia, thanking his coach for his support.
“I am so happy that I have something to show for my efforts this year, especially after missing the WYC and I hope I can continue like this in the next tournament,” he said.
Odusanya alluded that her intense training has been her winning secret, giving a hint of her desire to play in a professional league next year.
“I should go and play professional league by God’s grace. So I don’t know if I am going to play or not. I used to train how and focus and I don’t underrate anyone,” she added.
