Delta State Governor and vice presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, has asked the federal government to end banditry, kidnapping and other forms of insecurity in the country before the 2033 elections.
Okowa made the appeal yesterday at the 11th Zik Lecture Series titled: “Nigeria in the Throes of Insecurity Towards 2023: Any Panacea”, held at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University (NAU), Awka, Anambra State.
He quoted the Global Index report which ranked Nigeria as the 21th most dangerous and terrorist country in the world, noting that the ranking was as a result of the rising insecurity experienced daily in Nigeria.
Okowa, therefore, called on the federal government to urgently tackle the security challenges across the 36 states and the FCT.
He noted that separatism, herder and farmers clashes and kidnapping for ransom had taken over the country.
